One Page books are great!
An informative work of art...I've had mine framed; it hangs in the hallway, and draws people like a magnet. Needless to say, I shall buy further editions for friends and family. Great idea!

Rhoda...a character for all generations....I was particulary impressed with her teenage years leading up to her tumultuous, first marriage. Gilchrist has vivid and colorful descriptions for all of her characters, and will not leave you disapointed.
All the Rhoda Stories under One CoverThe author has written before how she is/is not like Rhoda, but regardless of how much Rhoda's character may be autobiographical, Rhoda sparkles and comes to life in these stories.
Recommended also is "Net of Jewels", a novel starring Rhoda, but Gilchrist does much better at short stories than novels, in my opinion.

WOW!

A World of Celebrations

great for beginning cooks

The Civil WarWhile no major battles of the Civil War were fought in North Carolina, the state did see its share of skirmishes. In striking detail, this book covers the beginning of the war until it's conclusion. It's truly fascinating to read about the places and events that took place one hundred and forty years ago.
The research by Barrett in constructing an acurate view of the state during the war is top notch. A lot of footnotes accompany the text. A highly recommended and worthwhile read for both Civil War and history buffs of the Tar Heel state.

Best translation of a complete medieval canonical text.
